TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – The
Florida Association of Health Underwriters (FAHU) and the Florida Association
of Insurance Agents (FAIA) have joined forces to create a unified voice for
health insurance and employee benefits agents in Florida.
The new Florida Health Insurance & Employee Benefits
Coalition will advocate for agents in the legislature, the executive branch,
and the regulatory arena.
“This coalition was forged to be a strong, vocal alliance for
health and benefits associations, agents, and employees,” said Matt Dinkel,
chair of the coalition and FAHU’s legislative chair. “Our goal is to make a
high priority of the governmental objectives of our member organizations, and to
ensure that their concerns are continually addressed.”
An advisory board made up of three members from each
organization oversees the coalition. The 2014-15 members are:
- Chair Matt Dinkel of Fort Myers (FAHU)
- Vice Chair John Lacey of Clearwater (FAIA)
- Case Fessler of Clearwater (FAIA)
- Donna Fogle of St. Augustine (FAHU)
- Don Marx of Leesburg (FAHU)
- Angie Vitale of Maitland (FAIA)
The advisory board will meet periodically to discuss relevant
industry issues and develop consensus on issues of mutual interest to the

owners and understand the issues that matter most,” said John Lacy, vice chair
of the coalition and chairman of the FAIA Health & Benefits Task Force.
“Our business and our customers’ businesses will benefit from the combined
efforts of these respected organizations.”
FAHU is a non-profit
organization of insurance professionals dedicated to serving the public by
strengthening the insurance marketplace, advocating for effective legislation,
ethical leadership and professional standards, and by educating our members and
the consumers they serve.
