InVEST® seeks silent auction and scholarship donations

(Young Agents Council, InVEST) Permanent link

Held each year during YAC Gives Back: A Benefit for InVEST® Scholarships as part of the Big “I” Legislative Conference, the InVEST silent auction raises money for the InVEST scholarship fund. The event is a conference favorite, attracting attention from attendees looking to make a difference.

InVEST asks for your consideration in making a silent auction donation for the event. All donations are appreciated, including sporting events tickets, jewelry, restaurant or retail gift cards, or even specialty items from your clients. The more donations that come in, the more scholarships that can be awarded to deserving InVEST graduates.

The deadline to submit silent auction donations is March 7, but InVEST will accept monetary donations for the scholarship fund until May 17. Contact Mariam Ebadi, InVEST program coordinator, for more information, or donate now online.

(Member News) Permanent link

From an overview of the Affordable Care Act to the new age of long-term care planning, employment law to social media, breakout sessions at FAIA’s 110th Anniversary Convention & Education Symposium have much to offer life and health agents.

The ACA: Exchanges and More
What is the Affordable Care Act, and how will it affect consumers and your business? This session will provide a brief introduction to the health care system and background information on the ACA, and then tackle exchanges, health plans, and navigators in depth.

The New Age of LTC Planning: Traditional LTCI vs. Hybrid Life & Annuity LTC Policies
This course takes a close look at the rapidly changing traditional LTCI marketplace and the growing Life and Annuity based LTC products. Michael will break down these two different concepts to their essential components, compare their strengths and weaknesses, and simplify them.

Employment Law and the Insurance Agent
Compliance with federal and state employment laws is one of the most challenging issues agents face. This two-hour session will address the fair labor standards act; whether that producer of yours is an independent contractor or actually an employee; the equal pay act; age discrimination; and more.

Suitability of Annuity & Life Transactions for Seniors
This class reviews the duties of insurers and agents in determining an objectively reasonable basis for recommendations of annuities. Topics include client assessment, agent responsibilities, disclosure of risk, churning and twisting, and record keeping.

What Every Insurance Agent Needs to Know About Lawsuit Prevention, Tax Reduction, and Estate Planning Strategies
Is your financial house in order? Discover the tools needed to become invincible to lawsuits, save thousands in taxes, and achieve financial peace of mind. It takes a lifetime to accumulate your assets. Take three hours to protect them.

Insurance 2.0: Using Online Media to Build Relationships and Provide Value
While many agents are dipping their toes into the waters of social and digital media, few are ready to take the plunge. Ryan Cohn will explain the revolutionary shifts that are changing the way agents interact with prospects, customers, and colleagues, and walk the audience through a variety of B2B and B2C opportunities that can build relationships and provide value.

Agency Buy/Sell Agreements: How to Capture True Value or Ruin a Lifetime of Work
Most buy/sell agreements are written by attorneys who know nothing about agency valuation, or by CPAs who only consider tax angles. Crucial to crafting buy/sell agreements is the understanding that different legal definitions of “value” exist. (For agency principal’s only.)
