February job-creation numbers set new record

(Member News) Permanent link

Last week, Gov. Rick Scott announced that over the month of February, Florida businesses created more than 32,000 private-sector jobs. This is the highest number of private-sector jobs created in Florida in one single month since Gov. Scott took office, and accounts for nearly 20 percent of all new private sector jobs in the country last month.

In total, since December 2010, Florida’s economy has added 540,700 private-sector jobs. With an unemployment rate at 6.2 percent, Florida’s economy is on the rebound thanks to Governor Scott’s efforts to support businesses and create more jobs for Florida families.

FAIA is proud to support the campaign to re-elect Gov. Rick Scott.

(Member News, Trusted Choice) Permanent link

“Digital units” are now on sale for the second wave of the Trusted Choice Freedom Campaign digital ad buy. Harnessing the power of a national digital ad buy, agencies have the opportunity to reach a minimum of 800,000 digital consumers on various websites that focus on life changes, including pregnancy and buying a new car or home. Agencies can choose their market, and Trusted Choice will customize the banner ads with each agency’s logo and name.

With support from the Marketing Reimbursement Program, agencies receive $3,000 worth of digital advertising for only $2,250, making the buy excellent opportunity to tap into the digital space to maximize exposure for your business.

And the timing couldn't be better. FAIA launches its $200,000-plus digital media buy April 1. The campaign is designed to raise awareness of the new TrustedChoice.com with a minimum of 58 million impressions and 29,000 click throughs. TrustedChoice.com breaks new-traffic record for 7th consecutive month

(Member News, Trusted Choice) Permanent link

CAP subscribeNearly 1,600 independent insurance agencies across the country are now participating at the Advantage level on the new TrustedChoice.com—and with good reason.

  • Traffic: February makes the seventh record-breaking month in a row in terms of consumer traffic to the website. Traffic is up over 600 percent since TrustedChoice.com launched the consumer portal in July of 2013.
  • New business: Several hundred participating agencies have received high-quality sales leads from the site. Best of all, the closing rate appears to be about 50 percent so far; participating agents are writing new business!
  • Ideal prospects: Most of the visitors are exactly the customers you want—married, over 35 years old, with homes and multiple cars, and looking for a higher limits option half of the time.
  • Momentum: In just the last 90 days, nearly 1,600 agencies have elected to participate in the Advantage monthly subscription.
  • Return on investment: At about $1.28 per day ($39 per month), an investment in the Advantage subscription greatly improves the odds of being found and chosen by insurance buyers looking for an independent agent. Many agencies have seen the investment pay off within days of signing up.

A TrustedChoice.com profile is easy to set up and takes just a few minutes. Subscribe online, or call Project CAP directly (855-372-0070).

Expect your Future One Agency Universe Study invitation soon

(Member News) Permanent link

Beginning March 24, all independent insurance agencies in the U.S. will receive invitations to participate in the 2014 Future One Agency Universe Study. Future One, a cooperative effort of the Big “I” and more than 20 leading independent agency companies, has conducted this research since 1983.

The survey asks for agency information and opinions on a wide range of topics, including revenues, staffing, mix of business, emerging marketplace trends, diversity, and technology.

One of the survey’s top priorities is gathering the most accurate data possible about independent agency operations to help Big "I" agencies and company partners benchmark operations, develop new products and services, and refine their relationships with one another. Independent market research firm Zeldis Research Associates will conduct the study to ensure the quality and confidentiality of the data. Timing is critical, so please complete the survey as soon as you receive your individualized invitation, and remember your responses are completely confidential.

After you have completed the survey, the Big “I” will use your password to enter your agency in a drawing for prizes totaling $3500: a $1,000 grand prize, two $500 second prizes, four $250 third prizes, and five $100 prizes.

If you have any questions or concerns regarding participation in the survey, contact Madelyn Flannagan, Big “I” vice president of Agent Development, Research and Education.

National Alliance, FSU now enrolling military and their spouses into Careers for Life program

(Member News, The National Alliance) Permanent link

AUSTIN, TX—Dr. William T. Hold, President of The National Alliance, and Caryn L. Beck-Dudley, Dean of FSU’s College of Business announce the Careers for Life program now has enrolled participants. Careers for Life is open to all services of the military, military spouses, dependents, and all veterans.

This exciting initiative provides soldiers, veterans, and their spouses the opportunity to pursue civilian careers in risk management and insurance. The goal of the initiative is to prepare these men and women to be “career-ready” by completing The Alliance's premiere education, training and mentoring programs. The skills and values of these dedicated Americans translate very well to civilian risk management and insurance as they devise ways to protect businesses and the people who live, create and work in them. This program can be tailored to benefit active duty military, military members anticipating separation, and traditional guardsmen and reservists who desire a full time career in risk management and insurance.

“The Careers for Life Initiative is an exciting program for The Alliance, FSU, and our country,” said Dr. William T. Hold, president and co-founder of The National Alliance for Insurance Education and Research. “The men and women who have served in our military are the ‘cream of the crop’ and we want these leaders working in the RMI industries and the Careers for Life Initiative will get this accomplished.”

FAIA is the exclusive Florida provider of of the CIC and CISR designations offered through The National Alliance.

Caryn L. Beck-Dudley, the dean of FSU’s College of Business, had this to say: “After two years of planning, we are especially gratified to see the program begin. The College of Business and Florida State University’s veterans community take a great deal of pride in being a vital part of this unique initiative. We look forward to the growth and continuing development of this program at FSU.”

According to The Bureau of Labor Statistics, agencies are expanding to provide both insurance and risk management services. In fact, from 2010 to 2020, employment growth in insurance agencies alone will grow by 21.9 percent, creating 184,400 jobs. This projection includes 90,200 new jobs and 94,200 replacement jobs.

For more information, contact Beverly A. Messer, CIC, CRM, CISR, senior vice president, Academic Development, The National Alliance, at 800-633-2165.

FAIA raising Trusted Choice brand awareness with digital media buy

(Member News, Trusted Choice) Permanent link

Digital AdStarting April 1, FAIA will launch a $200,000-plus digital media buy to raise awareness of the new TrustedChoice.com.

The six-month, statewide “Freedom” campaign, which will run April–July and again September–November, will showcase independent agents as a trusted source for consumer insurance needs by highlighting an independent agent’s freedom to choose from more than one insurance provider. The campaign’s official slogan is “Free to do what’s right for you™”

The digital display banner ads will appear adjacent to content on eligible webpages across the Internet, and are targeted based on age, gender, web behavior, and of course location. You Tube, The Weather Channel, and The Knot, Forbes, and Careerbuilder.com, are just a few of the sites where consumers could see the ads.

Trusted Choice estimates the campaign will receive a minimum of 58,200,000 impressions and around 29,000 click-throughs to TrustedChoice.com.

We're sending them there; will they find you?

Remember, all FAIA members who agree to the Trusted Choice pledge are listed on the new TrustedChoice.com, but agencies that sign up for the Advantage subscription (at just $39 a month, and cancelable at any time) appear first and with expanded information.

The train has left the station: The total number of Advantage subscribers is approaching 1,500 agencies, and traffic numbers for February are in and exceeded 87,000 visitors, a 28% increase over the 68,000 visitors in January.  This was the 7th consecutive month of record traffic.

To date, hundreds of agencies have received strong prospects from TrustedChoice.com (read some of their success stories), and they are selling those prospects insurance.

TrustedChoice.com visitors aren’t shopping for just a cheap policy—they’re often choosing premium coverage limits, or searching for commercial policies beyond personal lines. The Advantage Subscription can help your agency get a piece of that business.

With the Advantage Subscription, member agencies enjoy:

  • Premium positioning in consumer search results for “Find Your Agent”
  • An enhanced profile, including contact information, logo or photograph, agency services, social media links and more
  • Unlimited “Get a Quote” and “Find Your Agent” prospects
  • Automatic program enhancements and resources
  • Technical support

Leverage FAIA’s digital ad buy with tagged ads of your own

Trusted Choice’s Marketing Reimbursement Program for 2014 (PDF) includes money for advertising, and because Trusted Choice buys in bulk, agencies can get more for their money. The next digital ad flight for agencies is scheduled for September through December (though it may be sooner, depending on many factors). Details follow:

  • $3,000 investment ($2,250 paid by agent, $750 funded by MRP)
  • Target customers within a 3 to 5 zip code area
  • 3 month flight
  • 800,00 estimated impressions
  • 400 estimated clicks
  • Increase awareness of your brand and drive qualified traffic to your website

(Additional $3,000 increments can be purchased at full price to increase reach and/or add additional zip codes.)
