Scam warning: Convention hotel reservations

(Member News) Permanent link

FAIA has learned that a third-party reservation company is calling Convention exhibitors and attendees offering reduced rate rooms at The World Center Marriott. The company claims to be working on behalf of FAIA, and asks for credit card information to make the reservation.

These companies are in no way affiliated with FAIA or the Marriott, and are not authorized to use our name or logo in any solicitations. FAIA does not use a third-party to arrange hotel or travel reservations. Attendees and exhibitors should book rooms directly through the World Center Marriott or the SpringHill Suites in the Marriott Village. Details are available the Convention home page.

Don’t be fooled by anyone (other than our own Cindy Molnar!) who calls or emails you with any of the following claims:

  • "There are issues with your room reservation."
  • "Rooms in the FAIA room block are running out and must be booked as soon as possible."
  • "We can get you a cheaper room rate than FAIA."
  • "Hotel rooms for the conference are sold out and we can help find you alternatives hotels."

Again, FAIA does not work with third-party reservation providers. Don’t provide any personal information or your credit card number to any entity claiming to be working on behalf of FAIA, no matter how tempting the offer.
