Required Mitigation Class

During the January 2007 Special Session, the legislature created a requirement for all agents and customer representatives to take one hour of continuing education credit every two years on the subject of mitigation and the related insurance discounts.

This new class is required for all CE compliance periods ENDING on January 31, 2009 or later. Note that this does not add an hour to your total number of required hours; it is done within your current number of hours required. FAIA was the first to roll out a class that qualified: Since the one hour of mitigation information may be included within a longer class, we had our three hour mitigation class at the YAC Legislative Forum in March 2007 approved for the credit. In 2007 you'll have three additional opportunities to fulfill your requirement via FAIA courses:

1. Beginning in April 2007, Jay Williams will be your instructor, adding the ONE HOUR class to his current E&O/Umbrella schedule. The Insurance Discounts for Wind Mitigation class will be held from 3:15 -- 4:15 p.m. immediately following the afternoon Umbrella classes. 2. We'll have a TWO HOUR version at the 103rd Annual Convention and Education Symposium in June. (Note: the extra hour will count toward your general P&C requirement.)

3. The Legislative Roundup and Mitigation 2007 class will comply for the mitigation credit. You'll receive an update on the happenings on Capitol Hill in Tallassee and your get mitigation credit. This FOUR HOUR course will also be offered at the Convention.
