Chair of the INVEST Task Force
Agency Name: Acrisure Southeast dba Frank H. Furman Insurance Agency
Title: Personal Lines Account Manager & Assistant Manager
Location: Pompano Beach, FL
What initially drew you to this task force?
-
I love educating people and starting at the high school level because they're at a kind of a peak interest, so to speak. They’re driving, so they’re interested in personal auto. They want to eventually own a home or start a business. In any aspect of their future life, they’re going to need insurance. So even if they’re not interested in working in it, they’re still learning something they’ll need forever.
What are you most passionate about related to the task force’s mission?
-
We need the youth to enter the industry, and we need to fill the gaps left by the folks before us who are in their retirement phase. You can live a good life and there’s a lot of freedom that comes along with it. We're here to explain to the kids that insurance is not knocking on doors or whatever they see on TV. There’s opportunity everywhere you turn in insurance, and that’s what I want them to see.
What would you say to someone interested in being involved in the INVEST Task Force?
-
I would invite them to come into one of the classrooms with me and get a hands-on experience. We’ve had a couple of people do that and it’s a good way to see what the program is all about.
As the chair of this task force, what is/was one of your priorities for this year?
-
To drum up the interest of the schools now that we’re out of COVID lockdowns. For a while, we were doing it virtually, but I want to try to get back into the school system, to sit face-to-face with the kids. It means more when you’re in the classroom and they can see you.
If you could travel anywhere, where would you travel?
-
I would love to go to Bali because the scenery looks magical.
The INVEST Task Force’s charge is to help grow the independent agency network’s future workforce by expanding the INVEST program in high schools, vocational schools, and community colleges, providing scholarships to those students, engaging teachers through workshops, exploring industry connections for outreach, and developing online resources for teachers and students.
