Every FAIA agency member is assigned a Member Advocate (MA) to be their direct point of contact at the association. No matter what your question, our MAs can help. Paul Peeples, who hails from St. Marks, is FAIA’s Vice President and Chief Operations Officer, and is also a member advocate. We sat down with Paul and talked to him about the best parts of his job, what he wishes more members knew about FAIA, and why he admires his mom.

What is your favorite part of your job?
My favorite part is working with everyone here. We have a great culture and I love coming to work.

What do you wish more members knew about FAIA?
I wish they knew how strong of an advocate we are for them. Most people think they’re just coming to us for markets, but eventually, they get more involved and engaged in our advocacy. The people who are involved and engaged at FAIA do benefit from it and get more out of it.

In your opinion, what is the most valuable skill that an agent can have?
Listening skills. They have to be able to listen well to better assess their customers’ needs and risks.

Who has made the biggest impact on your career up to this point?
I would say Jeff Grady because he’s been a great friend and a great boss. In the 20 years I worked under Jeff, I saw how much he cared about his employees and this organization.

What do you do for fun?
Anything and everything outdoors like hunting, fishing, and shooting. I live on a lot of land so I like working on the property, learning, and fixing things.

Who do you admire and why?
My mom made me as strong as I am. She’s been everything and has always been there for me. She’s my biggest advocate and is such a powerful woman.

How would your best friend describe you?
A little on the OCD side and a workaholic.

What is your favorite thing?/Biggest pet peeve?
My pet peeve is disorganization and clutter. My favorite thing is my wife; she’s an angel.

What is one thing people are surprised to learn about you?
That I played trumpet and have ever since I was in middle school.
